It's All About The Lines

Last weekend my friend visited from the states and luckily the weather was amazing! In celebration of the fabulous weather I took her around the local areas of the city trying to incorporate some spring items into our wardrobes. My new obsession? Obviously my striped t-shirt that I got for $15 wearing it with skinny J brand jeans, black booties, my Juicy winter jacket, my Ray Bans and a scarf I picked up from the antique markets of my hometown. Designers are rooting for this sailor look by creating t-shirts, dresses, skirts and even jackets that could be worn with any bold colored item. This See by Chloe dress I found on net-a-porter.com is a simple striped dress that could be worn with wedges, a jeans jacket and a straw fedora - all of which are staples for a summer day!

Color your arm

Sonia Rykiel introduced the funky bangle this spring. Colored bangles separated by studded ones are the perfect accessory for spring, add a splash of color to a simple outfit by wearing one, two or the whole bunch and don't be shy to make them your statement piece. The best thing about accessorizing is that you don't have to go designer, you could add a bunch of thick or thin bangles from H&M or Forever 21 and be part of this trend, maybe you could be a trendsetter yourself - you never know!

Oh My Mr.Louboutin

After going through the latest issue of InStyle magazine, I spotted the most gorgeous pair of Louboutin heels that I instantly fell in love with. The colors and the cut-out space on the shoe itself create a statement strong enough that even if you wear it with a plain white t and jeans you will rock out a look. It's a must to go through the stores of the city in order to find this pair from Christian Louboutin's latest spring collection - and I am sure it is worth spending your savings on such an item no matter what your parents say!

Must-Read Book!

After seeing those models strut their stuff on the runways during fashion week, you start to wonder if they consume anything besides cigarettes and champagne but what proves us wrong is this fashion cookbook that includes the best recipes of 100 American Designers. American Fashion Cookbook by Lisa Marsh is a book that makes you want to gain those pounds instead of shred them .. and after spending countless hours flipping through books in bookstores, I managed to sneak this one out and put it on my must-read list. As a lover of the kitchen, Julia Child and Martha Stewart, this book creates the perfect recipe for a family meal, dinner for two and even a midnight snack!

Still in!

I bought this exact bag a couple of years ago from the Miu Miu store in Milan and today I found it on net-a-porter.com! I think that it's amazing how Miu Miu managed to continue designing this bag in different colors, shapes, patterns and fabrics and I must say that I am glad I can still carry my fabulous bag on the streets knowing its still in style! You never know if the item you want to invest on is going to be in or out in a couple of seasons - but it is definitely worth the risk .. I can tell you that!

Ahhh ... The Smell of Vintage

On my last trip to Paris, I managed to pass by the most magnificant place on this stylish planet. The place screams vintage, it smells vintage, it looks vintage - and yet, it is found today in the gardens of the Palais Royal in the City of Lights. Known as the King of Vintage, Didier Ludot makes you experience clothes and accessories like never before. From fashion houses and designers such as Chanel, Balenciaga, Givenchy, Christian Dior, Balmain, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermes and Louis Vuitton you find yourself lost in the smells of leather and the touches of silk. If you're ever in the area make sure to make this place a destination point because it will definitely change the way you look at Haute Couture!!

Clog It!

Designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Muiccia Prada are bringing the clog back into action this season but here Pedro Garcia shows a new and improved modernized clog that any girl can wear on the streets. Although i'm personally not a big fan, this pair, known as "Fiona" and they look so comfortable that it could be worn during the day with jeans and out for the night with a summer dress. The best thing about these clogs is that no matter how high - they manage to be comfortable no matter what! So get going girls, i'm about to buy my first pair ... maybe I could find some in Aldo or Urban Outfitters!

Posh Spice for the After Party

The Oscars after party was full of short, long, flowy and skintight dresses, but the designer that managed to shine that night was Victoria Beckham herself! Cameron Diaz opted to go shorter for the after party with a design from the spice girl and I am loving the thick one shoulder that she incorporates in many of her designs. Cameron Diaz also managed to stick to the California/Hollywood theme that she had going on in the red carpet - very impressive!

Oscar Night Buzz

Hot dresses

Although it is a neutral color that Demi Moore supported on the red carpet, i must say that it is my perfect look. The ruffles on the bottom balanced out the drape on the top. This organza Atelier Versace gown created the perfect Oscar look especially that her silk matching sandals managed to give us a peek!

I fell in love with the overall look that Cameron Diaz set on the red carpet last night, with her blond flowy hair, red lips and shimmering Oscar de la Renta dress - she set the perfect Hollywood/California look for the night.

Although I never really saw Carey Mulligan in action, I must say that I loved her Prada dress and matching suede shoes. Although it is black on the red carpet it set a perfect contrast. It's said that the dress was decorated with Swarofski crystallized forks, knives and other gadgets that give her a young appeal.

Stars with potential dresses

Zoe Saldana's Givenchy Haute Couture gown was fabulous from the top ... but not so much on the bottom, the color gradation was too strong for a shimmery corseted top like that perhaps if the color was a little less harsh it probably would be on my top dressed list.

Charlize Theron walked the red carpet in a lavender Christian Dior, the shape actually flattered her figure, but it looks like she has cupcakes on her chest! The train doesn't look that bad since in accentuates her curves but maybe some alteration should be made to the top part of that dress!

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a Chanel Haute Couture dress might be considered to be a fashion risk on the red carpet. Although I wasn't a really big fan of the color, only she could pull of such a look!

going neutral?

Fendi
Christian Louboutin

Burberry Prorsum

I am fully aware that spring is all about color, but it seems all the designers this season are going for the neutral colored shoe. Think about it, a nude shoe will make you look taller and slimmer.. isen't that what we all want? Burberry paired this shoe with gray socks and a trench coat. If your into classics, the Louboutin could be worn day and night with jeans or a pastel colored dress. As for the Fendi one that i am totally in love with, it must be worn as a statement piece for your outfit, something this beautiful should never be hidden!

the Rocco Bag!

Alexander Wang introduces the bag of the season with what he calls the Rocco bag! Wear it during the day with jeans or wear it for the night and pair it with a mini skirt. Personally, i would swipe my plastic card for such a bag any day, its size and color are a perfect fit!

jean jean jean

So i just remembered the denim jeans we used to wear in the 90's that were basically hand-me-downs from your sister or even a brother! and it got me thinking after walking around the city that jeans are technically back in action. After checking out H&M and the Gap downtown I realized that jackets and jeans are not the only way to go denim, shirts and hats are other options you could have in your wardrobe this spring. This shirt from Maje represents the complete modernized denim shirt with the puffy shoulder and the tucked in waist. You could pull this off stylishly tucked in with khaki shorts and high wedges and even a matching fedora!

alice in wonderland!

With the new Tim Burton movie Alice in Wonderland hitting theaters this weekend, we see how the fashion world has taken interest in what Disney offered decades ago. From dresses to nail polish people in reality are able to channel Helena Bonham Carter's character of the Red Queen by matching the Tabitha Simmons shoes with the frog-shaped Roberto Cavalli earrings, or the turquoise Marc by Marc Jacobs Dress with a matching shimmering shade of OPI! Don't be afraid of color girls, this season its all about channeling your inner Disney character!
