As the heat starts seeping through our windows, we tend to lean towards soft pastel shades as a way to stay cool. Besides fruity Popsicles, this summer we are getting obsessed with blush tones that give a sophisticated yet chic look to our wardrobes. Looks such as the Givenchy one shown above is just one way how you can maintain this look, you can however corporate simple pieces to your regular outfits such as the jacket with a pair of white jeans, or beige pants with pastel colored summery tops. One way that designers are adding this trend to their regular pieces is by using lighter materials. Miu Miu for example incorporated beige linen to the usual leather tote that made an appearance a few years ago, and today, it is still considered trendy especially with the mix and match of texttured materials. It is always important to add a pop of color to a banal shade such as beige, and this could be done with accessories - if you are sticking to an all-beige outfit. Earrings such as the ones Tom Binns introduced could add some spice with summery shades such as red, orange and yellow. Don't be afraid to stick to neutral tones, with the right accessories, your outfit will never look boring!

My summer read is "Inès de la Fressange: Parisian Chic". This book is about fashion for the normal girl, and in the book she outlines all the do's and don'ts and what to have to be Parisian Chic.

After reading the book, I looked into Ines de la Fressange and realized that she was Karl Legerfeld's muse in the 80's and she still walks the runways in his shows!

I think anyone interested in style should have this book by their bed-side. I am totally addicted!

Hello bloggers! It's been a while for me since I wrote here but summer has been one hell of a season!
Summer in the city is just fabulous and experiencing Montreal in the sun is just amazing. I went to several music festivals, zoo's, sidewalk sales and other events that make the city beautiful.

After seeing pictures and hearing details of music festivals around the world such as Coachella in California, Lalapalooza in Chicago and Glastonbury in England, I made it a point this summer to attend a festival here in Canada.

We attended the Blues Festival in Ottawa in June and watched amazing shows on several stages, had hot dogs and beer and watched the sunset by the river. It was really fabulous and a must-have experience for everyone!

There was however a task that I had to complete before attending this festival and that was of course the style that I was going to adopt. Reading magazines and looking at websites and blogs, festival fever was taking over and it was a must to look the part! I wanted to be comfortable and chic at the same time! And since I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, here is what inspired me:

I decided then that I would stick to my denim cut-offs and a T with a fedora (to protect me from the sun and keep me chic!). I am also into the loose t-shirt style that keeps it breezy and flowy contrasted against the tight shorts. The handbag I wanted had to be comfortable and had to be able to fit everything that I need to keep to help me survive a whole-day festival such as the one I attended. Fringes wouldn't hurt either!
Here are a few items that helped put my style together:
MiH Jeans
Miami rigid-denim cut-off shorts

Rag & bone
Cotton-trimmed straw fedora

Diane von Furstenberg
Harper Bon Bon ostrich-effect leather shoulder bag

Zoe Karssen
Dreaming cotton and modal-blend tank

And here are a few pictures from the festival itself!

Since summer is getting closer we are starting to itch for sandals and wedges. Although never really the sandal type of girl, I usually opt for a wedge like heel that would work perfectly well with jeans, shorts or a breezy summer day dress. Surfing the web, I found the perfect wedges for the season with embroidery and to our luck, it comes in all shades, prints and colours. Perfect to fit any style!
