Posh Spice for the After Party

The Oscars after party was full of short, long, flowy and skintight dresses, but the designer that managed to shine that night was Victoria Beckham herself! Cameron Diaz opted to go shorter for the after party with a design from the spice girl and I am loving the thick one shoulder that she incorporates in many of her designs. Cameron Diaz also managed to stick to the California/Hollywood theme that she had going on in the red carpet - very impressive!

Oscar Night Buzz

Hot dresses

Although it is a neutral color that Demi Moore supported on the red carpet, i must say that it is my perfect look. The ruffles on the bottom balanced out the drape on the top. This organza Atelier Versace gown created the perfect Oscar look especially that her silk matching sandals managed to give us a peek!

I fell in love with the overall look that Cameron Diaz set on the red carpet last night, with her blond flowy hair, red lips and shimmering Oscar de la Renta dress - she set the perfect Hollywood/California look for the night.

Although I never really saw Carey Mulligan in action, I must say that I loved her Prada dress and matching suede shoes. Although it is black on the red carpet it set a perfect contrast. It's said that the dress was decorated with Swarofski crystallized forks, knives and other gadgets that give her a young appeal.

Stars with potential dresses

Zoe Saldana's Givenchy Haute Couture gown was fabulous from the top ... but not so much on the bottom, the color gradation was too strong for a shimmery corseted top like that perhaps if the color was a little less harsh it probably would be on my top dressed list.

Charlize Theron walked the red carpet in a lavender Christian Dior, the shape actually flattered her figure, but it looks like she has cupcakes on her chest! The train doesn't look that bad since in accentuates her curves but maybe some alteration should be made to the top part of that dress!

Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a Chanel Haute Couture dress might be considered to be a fashion risk on the red carpet. Although I wasn't a really big fan of the color, only she could pull of such a look!

going neutral?

Fendi
Christian Louboutin

Burberry Prorsum

I am fully aware that spring is all about color, but it seems all the designers this season are going for the neutral colored shoe. Think about it, a nude shoe will make you look taller and slimmer.. isen't that what we all want? Burberry paired this shoe with gray socks and a trench coat. If your into classics, the Louboutin could be worn day and night with jeans or a pastel colored dress. As for the Fendi one that i am totally in love with, it must be worn as a statement piece for your outfit, something this beautiful should never be hidden!

the Rocco Bag!

Alexander Wang introduces the bag of the season with what he calls the Rocco bag! Wear it during the day with jeans or wear it for the night and pair it with a mini skirt. Personally, i would swipe my plastic card for such a bag any day, its size and color are a perfect fit!

jean jean jean

So i just remembered the denim jeans we used to wear in the 90's that were basically hand-me-downs from your sister or even a brother! and it got me thinking after walking around the city that jeans are technically back in action. After checking out H&M and the Gap downtown I realized that jackets and jeans are not the only way to go denim, shirts and hats are other options you could have in your wardrobe this spring. This shirt from Maje represents the complete modernized denim shirt with the puffy shoulder and the tucked in waist. You could pull this off stylishly tucked in with khaki shorts and high wedges and even a matching fedora!

alice in wonderland!

With the new Tim Burton movie Alice in Wonderland hitting theaters this weekend, we see how the fashion world has taken interest in what Disney offered decades ago. From dresses to nail polish people in reality are able to channel Helena Bonham Carter's character of the Red Queen by matching the Tabitha Simmons shoes with the frog-shaped Roberto Cavalli earrings, or the turquoise Marc by Marc Jacobs Dress with a matching shimmering shade of OPI! Don't be afraid of color girls, this season its all about channeling your inner Disney character!
